The Opening Track off of CBR's Self Titled Debut Album.
When you first hear the recently
completed, self titled debut Album from Citizens Band Radio, you can’t help but
notice that the songs are soulful, gritty, and tough. Songs that are obviously
from a band that is out to prove something.
But it isn’t until you actually get to see this ***-tonkin’,
rock-a-rollin’, whiskey drinkin’, good timin’ band that you get to feel what
CBR is really all about. CB Radio has
the look, feel and sound of an early 70’s vintage country rock band. With a rabid fanbase that is constantly
growing, mostly due to word of mouth, CB Radio’s energy on stage is like that
of a herd of wild horses. Their live shows
are exciting, energetic, and powerful and are shore to make a believer out of
anyone who appreciates the country-rock genre, and more often than not, even
those who don’t. With comfortable
audience interaction, it’s obvious that the fans at a CBR show are as important
to the show as the other six members on stage. At a recent event, when asked for one word to
describe the overall feel of a CB Radio show, a CBR fan was quick to smile and
say without hesitation “POSITIVITY!” As
each show builds, the band and the audience draw from each other to create a
higher energy and a shared experience that should be the staple of any live
act.
Citizens Band Radio is made up
of six professional musicians who collectively have shared the stage with acts
such as Levon Helm, Dickey Betts, The Marshall Tucker Band, Leon Russell, Lyle
Lovett, Mountain, Government Mule, Commander Cody and Ollabelle. CB Radio’s bassist, Todd Lanka and Pedal
Steel player Andy Keenan have both toured professionally on a national and
international level. Troy Blake on
Guitar and Dale Eddington on Percussion are each well known and respected by
their peers throughout the New York and Philadelphia music scenes. After leaving her mark on the northeastern
bluegrass circuit over the last decade, Linda King highlights CBR on Mandolin
and vocals. Front man, Jay Jannuzzi is
best known, not only for his song writing abilities, but for his great stage
presence as well. Jay has recently spent some time collaborating with Anthony
Krizan (Spin Doctors, Lenny Kravitz, Noel Redding, Amfibian) on songwriting
sessions for other artists throughout the country. Jay and Anthony met while recording CBR’s
2007 self-titled release which was produced by Krizan at his Sonic Boom Studio
in Raritan, New Jersey. “One of the
reasons that this album comes across so enthusiastically clear” says Krizan,
“is that all tracks were recorded live in the studio, with absolutely no
overdubbing whatsoever.” Some of the
other big guns that CB Radio was able to bring in on this project include
Engineer, Doug Conroy (Kravitz, Mr. Children) and Mastering by Mike
Fossenkemper (Thelonious Monk/John Coletrane, John Hammond). The album, ‘Citizens Band Radio’ is currently
receiving regular airplay on college, independent and European radio as well as
XM satellite radio.
In today’s great melting pot of
music, it’s easy to think of Citizens Band Radio as the Ultimate Americana
Music Stew! You take a bit of Willie,
Waylon and Cash; mix’em up with some Gram Parsons and Old Crow Medicine Show;
add a shot of Shooter Jennings, flavor with some Bill Monroe, toss in the
blues, The Stones, and some Dylan.
Finally throw in some Southern Rock and the most important ingredient
Original Live Music and Viola!! Citizens Band Radio ~ High Energy,
Electrified, Countrifried, Rock!!!
